The original picture of the flag was taken Oct. 6, 2001 at Marshall Independent School District Administration Building in Marshall, Texas. The Community Pride Flag Complex, designed by the late architect George R. Rodgers, caught my eye, because it was especially beautiful with its white towering pole standing in the midst of six smaller flagpoles. I captured the picture with my 35-mm camera while doing a documentary on patriotism in the South. I stood directly under the flagpole on a windy, fall day.
I love to photograph flowers because they don't complain, they just pose. Flowers are a big part of my life... I can't grow them, but I love to see what the next one looks like. The colors, shapes, hidden insects, and delicate parts remind me of the time and care our Creator puts into his precious masterpieces.
